ROBERT WORNUM SQUARE PIANO, LONDON, 1845

Wornum was one of the most ingenious English piano builders. He experimented continually with the form and function of the pianoforte. Following the example of Pape, he invented his own type of down striking action in 1836. He designed this 'Albion' model to achieve a broad key compass in a limited cabinet.
